Automated ingestion of latest Fleet-maintained app data.
Summary by CodeRabbit
Software Updates
Updated maintained app versions and installers across macOS and Windows, including Microsoft Office apps, Firefox Nightly, TablePlus, Zed, and Visual Studio Code.
Updated version checks and installer verification details to match the new releases.
Uninstall Behavior
Beyond Compare removal now also cleans up additional app data.
Kitty removal now preserves its configuration files.
The maintained app catalog updates records across macOS and Windows with newer release versions, patched-version thresholds, installer URLs, and checksums. Some records change architecture-specific installers. Microsoft Office and Tailscale entries also synchronize install-script references or package names. Beyond Compare adds uninstall cleanup paths, while Kitty’s uninstall script stops removing its configuration directory.
Possibly related PRs
fleetdm/fleet#56837: Updates many of the same maintained app records, including Microsoft Office entries and several apps refreshed here.
fleetdm/fleet#56814: Overlaps on app records including Beyond Compare, Microsoft Office apps, Reaper, TablePlus, and Webex.
fleetdm/fleet#56816: Updates many of the same app records, including Microsoft Office apps, TablePlus, Tailscale, Webex, and WeChat.
Priority: Low
Merge Risk: Low · up to 52135
The catalog updates are mergeable with awareness that existing literal pins can retain older installer builds after a same-version replacement. Addressing that narrow limitation can follow separately; the KeePassXC Intel compatibility issue is unchanged.

Select the macOS installer by host architecture. A blanket swap is not a complete fix.
This manifest sets one installer_url for every macOS host, and that URL names the arm64 build (KeePassXC-2.8.0-1-arm64.dmg). Assignment checks only the platform, so Intel Macs can be assigned this installer. Hydrate then copies the arm64 URL to each assigned host with no architecture check. Intel Macs can therefore receive an arm64 build, which is not expected to run on Intel hosts.
Replacing the manifest URL with the separate upstream KeePassXC-2.8.0-x86_64.dmg changes the artifact for every macOS host. That includes Apple silicon hosts that currently receive the native arm64 build. This repository does not establish that the x86_64 build meets those hosts' requirements. Correct compatibility needs per-architecture installer selection. That selection must be added to the maintained-app data model and to Hydrate.
This behavior predates the PR. The merge base already used the arm64 DMG, and the PR changes only the filename and checksum.
Note: this behaviour predates this PR (already present at merge base 3a6f255a6c7f); the change keeps it reachable.

Extend the maintained-app data model and Hydrate to select the macOS installer
by host architecture instead of applying the single installer_url to all hosts.
Preserve the arm64 installer for Apple silicon and select the upstream x86_64
installer for Intel Macs.

Literal pins can keep the October 27 nightly build after the manifest moves to October 28.
For a literal pin such as 161.0a1, the install path reads the cached installer for that version. It does not read the manifest. If the team already has a cached 161.0a1 row, the install uses the cached URL and SHA-256 from October 27. The manifest now publishes a different October 28 build under the same version, and no path refreshes that row for a literal pin.
Caret pins and unpinned teams are not affected in the same way. Auto-update refreshes their cached row when the manifest hash changes.
A fix needs a decision on how a literal pin treats a republished version. The options are a hash-aware pinned lookup or a distinct version string for each nightly build. The inspected code does not establish a safe localized patch to Hydrate. The file documents cache-first hydration for pinned versions that may no longer be the latest (server/mdm/maintainedapps/sync.go:170-172).
