maybe deprecation warnings could be added to relevant doc pages, based on php-src stub information.

so after release newly deprecated stuff can be picked up automatically in all languages instead of manually adjusting lots of separate repos manually

I suspect OP may be aware of at least some of this information already, but I'll append it for anyone else looking at this issue.

This information (deprecation notices) is currently hard-coded into the docs, not generated (see https://github.com/php/doc-en/blob/9947012f745f0fb6e083bce5a8c920213ff468b7/reference/image/functions/imagedestroy.xml#L9 )

So this happens when the translations aren't up-to-date, which, unfortunately, many aren't - see https://doc.php.net/revcheck.php

If you want to update a specific page, there's a "Submit a PR" link at the bottom of every docs page (before user notes) that will take you to the relevant file in the relevant docs repo

There's some documentation on contributing to the docs (and the shared docs data repo) here: https://github.com/php/doc-base/tree/master/docs

The tool used to generate the docs is https://github.com/php/phd

As for automatically updating this information based on the php-src stubs, I don't believe the stubs are currently looked at when building the docs in any way. They may be used by some of the manually run scripts for generating missing docs files, but that's all.

Related: It looks like the German docs for imagedestroy at least have since been updated in this regard.

I think every outdated translated page (where the EN-Revision tag differs from the latest commit) should have a notice at the top recommending that the English page be consulted.

Apache httpd docs work this way.

It is worse for users to have outdated information than to have it in a language they do not master.
