An alternative to Papers With Code using their database — looking for feedback and collaborators #117
I’m an ML engineer, and I used to rely on Papers With Code to find the latest models for specific topics or datasets. I was pretty disappointed when the project was discontinued and the site went offline for a while.
So, I decided to build an alternative — starting with the last published Papers With Code database, then cleaning and restructuring it, and adding a data processing pipeline. From here, the idea is to grow it with community contributions and ideas.
We’re using GitHub Issues as the main platform for:
-Submitting missing papers, datasets, or code links
-Suggesting new features
-Reporting bugs or incorrect data
All the main elements — papers, datasets, subsets, methods, benchmarks, and venues — are interlinked, so you can click your way through related content, sort of like Wikipedia for ML research.
I’m looking for feedback on how to make this a genuinely useful alternative to PWC. You can help by:
-Reporting bugs
-Suggesting features
-Submitting missing repo links for papers
-Or even collaborating to improve the platform
@ma-abdellaoui I've heard that HuggingFace had an agreement with Papers With Code to close the site and open their own section called "Daily Papers" (see here). However, it’s quite limited and doesn’t match the experience I was used to with Papers With Code. I’ve been really frustrated that such an amazing resource was removed so easily.
I just came back from vacation and discovered your alternative. I haven’t explored it in depth yet, but at first glance it looks fantastic. It’s the first time I’ve seen something that comes so close, and maybe even surpasses, in terms of design.
Thank you for building this! I don’t have time to contribute right now, but I’ll definitely share it tonight.
@ma-abdellaoui Unless I am doing something wrong, the search seems to be broken. Is it expected to work as of now?
Also, it would be great if HF/original Paerwithcode team could comment on their plans for trending papers. As of now, the functionality is seriously limited and hurting the community.
@ma-abdellaoui you are doing God's work your endeavor is magnificent, the downfall of paperswithcode.com would otherwise be the dawn of an era of scientific obscurantism where we can no longer find nor compare the up to date state of the art on any benchmark.
@ma-abdellaoui Unless I am doing something wrong, the search seems to be broken. Is it expected to work as of now?除非我操作错误,否则搜索功能似乎已经失效了。现在还能正常工作吗?
Also, it would be great if HF/original Paerwithcode team could comment on their plans for trending papers. As of now, the functionality is seriously limited and hurting the community.另外,如果 HF/原 Paerwithcode 团队能就他们的热门论文计划发表一下意见就好了。目前,该功能严重受限,正在损害社区。
I also don't know how to use the site's search function!
We also built the website using the original data from paperwithcode, http://scholarwiki.ai/, and further supplemented the data later. We will open source the data and the entire website's code in the future. We hope everyone can work together to improve the product.
Compared with sotapapers.com, which currently supports 575k papers, sotapapers supports 19k papers.
At the same time, everyone can search for papers, data and benchmarks.
Supports google login, supports saving papers, and allows everyone to comment on papers. We will invite the authors of the 4. papers to join us later to answer everyone's questions.
And it supports viewing the latest papers every day. The daily papers on huggingface are actually delayed by a few days.
The product is still in the development stage at present. We hope everyone can offer more suggestions and work together to build scholarwiki.

@linxid , If you were actually of the philosophy of the democratization of these works, one would think that, instead of doing the typical "ours is better, f*** this other dude / dudette" spamming / thunder-stealing--such behavior is illustrative of the very essence of the reason paperswithcode was disappeared in the first place--that you'd maybe privately reach out and see if there's anything either of you could offer to one another in service of your supposed end-game, and capitalize on the fact that both of you have the same hair up your asses.

THAT would be helpful, just sayin'.

I created researchlit, it uses search to match academic paper titles to github repositories.

Check wizwand.com . We are one of the very few actively maintained PwC alternatives with the latest papers indexed.
