perf(components): memoize tv components per theme and config - #7285
📖 Documentation (updates to the documentation or readme)
🐞 Bug fix (a non-breaking change that fixes an issue)
👌 Enhancement (improving an existing functionality)
✨ New feature (a non-breaking change that adds functionality)
🧹 Chore (updates to the build process or auxiliary tools and libraries)
⚠️ Breaking change (fix or feature that would cause existing functionality to change)
📚 Description
tldr; this PR memoizes the built component per extend theme and serialized config so identical configs share one factory.
this is probably a v4 fix only given that I think v5 drops tailwind-variants, but probably worth it for now.
currently every component recomputes resolveOptions/mergeObjects over the full theme each time, even though the result only depends on the extend theme and the config content.
profiling on a nuxt/ui sample app showed about a 3% overall improvement in request latency (I have a number of PRs I'm raising all based on testing with this same app; lmk if you want to see it)...
I've also included a benchmark in this PR which shows the same thing in isolation if you want to check it:

Walkthrough
The tv entry point now caches wrapped components by object-valued extend and serialized config when the config can be safely serialized. Calls that do not meet these conditions bypass caching. A cache is cleared before storing a new entry when it already contains 500 entries. Tests cover reuse and cache misses, and a benchmark measures repeated builds with changing config values.
No actionable merge-blocking risk is established. The change is ready for normal checks.

cannot collide with a literal string value of “\0undefined”; encode value types
separately or bypass caching when the config contains undefined, preserving
distinct cache entries and correct slot classes.

Some benchmarks with significant performance changes were compared across different runner types, so the changes might not come from the code. Run base and head on the same runner type, or use CodSpeed Macro Runners for more stable results.

- Around line 310-329: Update componentCacheKey to catch errors from
JSON.stringify, including serialization failures caused by bigint or cyclic
values, and return undefined so tv() uses the uncached path. Preserve the
existing replacer behavior and memoizable-key result for successfully serialized
configurations.
- Around line 310-329: Update the JSON.stringify replacer that builds the
componentConfig memoization key to inspect each original value before toJSON can
replace it; when an original object has a callable toJSON method, set memoizable
to false so the factory is not cached under a potentially colliding key.
