[solved] RuntimeError: Can't listen for client connections: [Errno 98] Address already in use

Hi

hope it is the right place to post.

I"m using debugpy with vscode for about a yeat without any difficulty.

Today i had to move my project and to re-install among other things debugpy py (with pip) and i'm facing a difficulty i was not able to fix.

• in my project, debugpy is embeded twice because sevral softs are run
• no difficulty until yesterday
• 2 ports are used accordingly (5678 and 5680)
• no trouble for the first one (5678) but it fails for the 5680 with
  RuntimeError: Can't listen for client connections: [Errno 98] Address already in use

I'm verified the port is available (netstat), i had a look for files in my /home for old files/logs/etc but i cannot figure out what is going wrong.

What is this "adresse" the message speaks about? where i should look for?

I'd just try a different port. It's not worth trying to find what has it open. 5678 never works for me on a specific machine.

the port 5678 worked and still works for now; the issue comes from the 5680 ... i'll try another port (few cost) and tell you back

you're absolutly right: i changed both port numbers and it works fine (i do not understand why, the it works) ... i wasted so many hours :-(
