zipballName and tarballName are ignored by the Gradle plugin #502
zipballName and tarballName work with Maven but are ignored by the Gradle plugin.
Where
gradle/PackageTask has no zipballName/tarballName properties and createPackager() doesn't forward them from the javapackager extension, so they are always null in Gradle.
If they were forwarded, gradle/CreateZipball (line 39) would use zipballName as the whole file name, without appending .zip, while maven/CreateZipball and both CreateTarball treat the name as a base name and append the extension.
Possible fix
Add both properties to PackageTask (@Input @Optional, forwarded with defaultIfNull), and append .zip in gradle/CreateZipball like the Maven version does.
Workaround
Rename the archive after the package task, or use the default ${name}-${version}-${platform} name.
Fixed in devel (29e3392): the Gradle PackageTask now forwards zipballName and tarballName from the javapackager extension, and both are the name without extension, as with Maven (.zip and .tar.gz are appended).
It will ship in 2.0.1, and I'll close this issue then.
How to test 2.0.1-SNAPSHOT
Important
Since 2.0.0 the groupId, the Gradle plugin id and the Java packages are io.github.javapackager (see Upgrading to 2.0).
Maven, add the snapshots repository and use the snapshot version:
