Explain Change →

Walkthrough

Nine maintained app records are updated to newer releases. The changes update version checks, installer URLs, and SHA-256 checksums. The PhpStorm and PyCharm records also change uninstall script references; the PyCharm uninstall script targets updated 2026.3 paths.

Possibly related PRs

  • fleetdm/fleet#57306: Updates the Bitwarden Windows record to the release immediately before this update.
  • fleetdm/fleet#56517: Updates the same PhpStorm and PyCharm macOS records and their uninstall behavior.
  • fleetdm/fleet#57059: Updates the same DataGrip, PhpStorm, and PyCharm records to earlier releases.
Merge Risk: Low · up to f5514

The release updates have a bounded cleanup regression: uninstalling PhpStorm or PyCharm on hosts still running 2026.2 leaves version-specific support files, caches, and logs behind. Restore those cleanup paths or accept this limitation before merging.

Explanation

The title "Update Fleet-maintained apps" matches the changeset. The raw summary shows version bumps, installer URLs, and SHA-256 updates across several Fleet-maintained app records (Bitwarden, Cyberduck, DataGrip, Evernote, PhpStorm, PyCharm, Retcon, Signal, Superwhisper, Telegram). The title is short and specific enough for a reviewer to see the main change. It does not name the specific apps or versions, which is acceptable.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

No eligible functions found in the changed files. Skipping docstring coverage check. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 0 functions across 0 files. (10 skipped: 10 unsupported.)

Full details: Description check

Explanation

The description is one line: "Automated ingestion of latest Fleet-maintained app data." It states the purpose of the change. It does not follow the repository template. It omits the related issue reference ("Resolves #"), the checklist, the testing section, and the required AI section. The template's AI section applies to AI agents that fill it in, and this PR's objectives say the output came from an automated generator. The description is brief but relevant, and the core intent is clear. Several template sections are missing.

Resolution

Fill in the repository description template. Add the related issue or story number under "Related issue", or remove that line if not applicable. Complete the submitter checklist. State whether a changes file is needed for user-visible changes in changes/ or orbit/changes/. Mark the testing items that apply. If an AI agent generated the change, add the required "AI" section with the tool and the exact model ID, or write "unknown" if the model ID is not available.

Minor · Select the managed DataGrip entry before running the uninstaller. · windows.json:4

ee/maintained-apps/outputs/datagrip/windows.json:4
Minor · Functional Correctness · Poor tradeoff

Select the managed DataGrip entry before running the uninstaller.

The uninstall script runs the first matching DataGrip* JetBrains entry and returns that process's exit code. If an older DataGrip installation is enumerated first, Fleet removes that installation and records the uninstall as complete while DataGrip 2026.3 remains installed. Select the entry for the managed version, or check that the managed version is gone before returning success.

Review comment at @ee/maintained-apps/outputs/datagrip/windows.json at line 4:
Update the DataGrip uninstall flow associated with the managed version in this
entry so it targets DataGrip 2026.3 rather than the first matching installation;
before reporting success, ensure the managed version is no longer installed.
Preserve the existing uninstall safeguards and outcome for other versions.

ee/maintained-apps/outputs/datagrip/windows.json-10-10: 1

10-10: Minor · Potential issue · Heavy lift

Unverified finding
We couldn't verify this from the code. It is shown for review, not as a verified issue.

The new installer is invoked with only /S; the unchanged patched query rejects any older DataGrip installation. If the installer preserves the previous version, installing 2026.3 cannot satisfy that query.

The device remains unpatched after a successful installation and may repeatedly attempt the update.

This can occur when: A device with DataGrip 2026.2.6.1 receives the 2026.3 installer and both versions remain registered.

- Line 20: Update the PhpStorm uninstall commands that call trash to remove the
explicit PhpStorm2026.2 Application Support, Caches, and Logs directories in
addition to the existing version-specific paths; do not use a wildcard. Apply
the same explicit PyCharm2026.2 cleanup in the PyCharm uninstall script,
preserving its existing cleanup commands.

Keep the 2026.2 JetBrains cleanup paths in the uninstall script.

After the catalog moves to 2026.3, an uninstall for a host that still runs 2026.2 uses the active 2026.3 uninstall script. That script removes only the PhpStorm2026.3 Application Support, Caches, and Logs directories. The PhpStorm2026.2 directories stay on the host.

Add explicit cleanup for the 2026.2 directories. Do not use a wildcard such as PhpStorm*, because it can remove data for other installed versions. The PyCharm script in ee/maintained-apps/outputs/pycharm/darwin.json has the same gap for its PyCharm2026.2 paths. Apply the same change there.

Suggested fix

 trash "$LOGGED_IN_USER" '~/Library/Application Support/JetBrains/PhpStorm2026.3'
 trash "$LOGGED_IN_USER" '~/Library/Caches/JetBrains/PhpStorm2026.3'
 trash "$LOGGED_IN_USER" '~/Library/Logs/JetBrains/PhpStorm2026.3'
+trash "$LOGGED_IN_USER" '~/Library/Application Support/JetBrains/PhpStorm2026.2'
+trash "$LOGGED_IN_USER" '~/Library/Caches/JetBrains/PhpStorm2026.2'
+trash "$LOGGED_IN_USER" '~/Library/Logs/JetBrains/PhpStorm2026.2'

These lines are part of the escaped uninstall script string in the JSON file.

Review comment at @ee/maintained-apps/outputs/phpstorm/darwin.json at line 20:
Update the PhpStorm uninstall commands that call trash to remove the explicit
PhpStorm2026.2 Application Support, Caches, and Logs directories in addition to
the existing version-specific paths; do not use a wildcard. Apply the same
explicit PyCharm2026.2 cleanup in the PyCharm uninstall script, preserving its
existing cleanup commands.
