Verification ran but could not confirm this finding. It is shown for review, not as a verified issue.Restrict the 422 mapping to client-input errors.
except ValueErroralso catches PydanticValidationError, which subclassesValueError. Ifmodel.RETRIEVED(...)rejects a persisted value, this branch returns 422 and exposes the internal validation message instead of reporting a server failure. Translate known RocketPy input errors at their call sites, or distinguish them before returning client-facing details. (github.com)Based on learnings, “For unhandled or internal exceptions, do not return raw details to clients; log the details server-side and return a generic, non-sensitive message with an appropriate status code.”

Replace the machine-specific regression command.
The prescribed command points to /Users/aasitvora/Desktop/.... Other contributors cannot run this prevention step as written. Use a repository-owned command, or document how to obtain the external suite and supply its path.

Move Function into the RocketPy import group.
The Pylint step fails on this import with C0411 and C0412. Group Function with the existing RocketPy imports before the first-party imports so CI can pass.

Keep the first input row for each Mach value.
sorted() orders equal Mach values by coefficient. For [[0.5, 0.9], [0.5, 0.55]], this code keeps 0.55, although the helper and its test specify the first row, 0.9. The resulting drag function supplies the wrong coefficient to the simulation. Preserve input order when selecting duplicates, then sort the selected rows by Mach. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Move the new imports to the module import block.
The Pylint pipeline fails on the fastapi and rocketpy imports at Lines 235 and 238. It also fails because Line 298 reimports MotorTank, TankFluids, and TankKinds. Move the needed imports to the existing import block and remove the duplicate import. The current suppression comments do not clear these reported errors.

… ValueErrors, malformed ids; accept motorless rockets
Replaying the Oct 2026 production P0s against a local instance showed four
opaque 500s and a non-standard 422 body:
- GENERIC motors with chamber_radius/height/position or
propellant_initial_mass = None constructed fine and crashed on first use
(Function(None) in center_of_propellant_mass). MotorService now raises
422 "Generic motor requires: a, b" naming every missing field.
- RocketPy ValueErrors (overfilled tank, etc.) were wrapped as 500; the
controller handler now maps them to 422 with the message.
- ObjectId("undefined") raised InvalidId -> 500; find_by_id returns None
(404 upstream), update/delete raise 404.
- The RequestValidationError handler returned a bare string; it now returns
FastAPI's standard {"detail": [{loc, msg, type}]}.
RocketModel.motor is now Optional: a rocket saved before its motor exists
keeps rocketpy's EmptyMotor (draws fine); rocket/flight simulate answer 422
"Rocket has no motor yet" via RocketService.require_motor().
Tests: 199 passing (18 new).

Why
Replaying the Oct 16–18 production P0s (entities fetched from
api.rocketpy.org, pushed into a local instance) showed every one of them was an opaque500 "Unexpected error"for what was really a client-side design problem, plus a non-standard 422 body that the jarvis client could not read.
